The Iowa Newspaper Association is a staunch advocate of maintaining the state of a free press in Iowa. INA celebrates the importance of freedom of information as a benefit to all Iowans.
INA works with the Iowa Freedom of Information Council to promote the First Amendment and openness in government.
An important premise found in federal, state, and local governments is that information about government activities must be publicized in order for people to make well-informed decisions. Public notices provide this sort of transparency and accessibility to citizens who want to know more about government actions.
The INA distributes public service ads and articles to its member newspapers based on requests from organizations that meet the INA’s PSA Distribution Policy. Newspapers can run these items as space allows. These are not paid advertising.

This program was created when the Iowa Judicial Branch began converting court records from paper to electronic. It was designed for Iowa news media in collaboration with the Iowa Newspaper Association to give reporters the ability to search for court filings on a daily basis, or within a specified range of dates.
