Contests & Events

Excellence in our industry deserves to be recognized, and the Iowa Newspaper Association has been doing just that for generations. From the state’s premier annual gathering to one of the most comprehensive industry contests in the region, INA brings Iowa’s news community together every year to celebrate great work, share ideas, and raise the bar for local journalism across the state.

The INA Convention draws publishers, editors, reporters, photographers, advertising professionals, students, and educators to Des Moines each February for a full day of professional development, networking, and recognition. The Better Newspaper Contests honor outstanding work across every aspect of newspaper publishing, from breaking news and investigative reporting to photography, design, and advertising, with more than 3,000 entries judged annually by an independent state press association.

Whether you are submitting your best work for consideration, attending the convention to connect and learn, or being recognized for a career of service to Iowa journalism, this is where the Iowa news community comes together. Explore each program below.

If you have questions during the contest entry preparation process, please contact the INA at 515-244-2145 or ina@inanews.com.
