Iowa Newspaper Foundation Partners with iJAG

The Iowa Newspaper Foundation (INF) has begun developing a partnership with iJAG with two main goals: helping students become stronger communicators and raising awareness of the newspaper industry and its career opportunities.

As part of this collaboration, INF participated in the annual iJAG Leadership and Development Conference and presented a session on social media to 150 students. This was a new course offering for iJAG, and we were thrilled by the level of student interest and engagement.

Following the conference, INF partnered with Media Now to provide online training courses for iJAG students. https://medianow.press/ijag/  Within one week, 15 iJAG classes had signed on to participate. The Foundation plans to expand these offerings with the long-term goal of making social media training available to all iJAG students.

Social media skills are essential for effective communication in every field and understanding how to engage responsibly online—both personally and professionally—is vital for today’s students.

Looking ahead, INF is exploring additional ways to partner with iJAG, including participation in future conferences and involvement in their annual student contests.
