The Iowa Mock Trial Courtroom Journalist Competition

The Iowa Mock Trial Courtroom Journalist Competition is returning both statewide and nationally in Des Moines next spring. 

Students will attend a mock trial and write a piece according to what they see. The goal for students is to write a fair and informative piece, as they will be graded on the clarity of the article, how newsworthy and relevant their piece is, and how engaging the story is for a reader. 

In order to register for the Iowa Mock Trial Courtroom Journalist Competition, students must be current high school students and must register two weeks before the competition.

The state competition will be held on March 27th-28th at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, while the national high school mock trial championship will be held during May 7th-9th.
