Assistant Circulation Director / Home Delivery Manager. $5,000 Sign On Bonus. The Sioux City Journal seeks an Assistant Circulation Director / Home Delivery Manager. The Assistant Circulation Director / Home Delivery Manager will work closely with department managers to improve and perfect customer service to minimize the negative effect service issues have on circulation units. They will motivate district managers and carriers to build units in their district.
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Circulation Director / Home Delivery Manager include;
Develop successful district managers through selection, hiring, training, coaching and motivation to meet customer expectations for product delivery through distributors. Achieve Service Request goals through effective analysis of contractor delivery.
Support the revenue goals of the department through distributor wholesale rates that are optimum for the enterprise, and reasonable application of subsidies and control of other operating costs.Develop and oversee methods for distribution of non-core products.
As a member of the sales and retention team, help plan and initiate sales promotions and new programs to retain customers.
Manage subordinate supervisors and employees.Other duties as assigned.We seek candidates who are innovative and have achieved proven results in their circulation careers and can motivate our circulation department. Circulation Sales Manager. The Circulation Sales Manager for the Ames Iowa area is responsible for achieving volume budgets for the Ames Tribune. This includes home delivery, single copy and third-party net paid circulation. The Circulation Sales manager is responsible for driving for new business that leads to not only units/volumes, but also revenue growth.
Develop and execute sales programs to maximize each channel, including targeted direct mail, single copy inserts, Online, ROP and other promotions.
Responsible for managing in-house kiosk program: recruit sales reps; secure kiosk venues; initial and ongoing training; quality control and commissions management.
Achieve budgeted sponsored volumes by implementing advertiser-friendly, start producing sales and sampling programs.
Manage sales spending to the current expense budget or any revisions that may arise.
Continually works to improve overall circulation operation.
This highly motivated, detailed and results oriented leader will provide direction and mentoring to a seasoned support staff to achieve and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and revenue growth. Proven results through effective budgeting, creative sales campaigns, staff development & teamwork are required.

News Staff Writer. The Clinton (Iowa) Herald, a six-day-a-week newspaper, is seeking applications for a News Staff Writer in the newsroom.
Clinton sits on the Mississippi River and features many outdoor activities. Subscriptions continue to circulate in Iowa and Illinois. The Clinton Herald has won several state, regional and national awards in the past four years.
The position is responsible for covering local beats, such as area city councils and school boards. In addition, we're looking for a journalist who can construct local enterprise stories that involve research and quality writing. The Clinton Herald has won investigative reporting awards through the Iowa Newspaper Association in two of the previous three years.
Some responsibilities will go beyond reporting. Videography, editing and reporting are required skills. The Clinton Herald staffs a full-time photographer. However, some photography also will be required. The qualified candidate must be a proficient writer, typer, be a self-starter and possess excellent people skills.

Summer Intern. The Kossuth County Advance (Algona, Iowa) is hiring a summer intern to work 400 hours or more. The internship runs from May to August to cover the progress, expansion and celebration of businesses throughout the county for the annual Progress and Pride edition, which comes out in September. Interns may be paid per story or by an hourly wage. In addition, the intern hired will assist with other news stories including the annual ABATE Freedom Rally. The intern will be guided through interviewing techniques, time management, lead creation and how to juggle several responsibilities at once in an environment that is supportive and encouraging. The intern will also learn photography, as well as layout and design skills, among other general newspaper duties.
