The The Press-Citizen's breaking news and public safety reporter covers crime, courts, major accidents, weather disasters, protests and other spot news in the Iowa City coverage area. But this role is not all spot news. There’s a significant opportunity to develop enterprise and investigative work, whether snagging exclusive interviews with disaster survivors or developing sophisticated analysis of crime trends and other issues affecting our community. And with Iowa being home to the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses, you'll also have the chance to cover politics and political figures as they visit our area — presidential candidates always make a stop in Iowa City, usually at the Hamburg Inn, famous for its Coffee Bean Caucus and delicious pie shakes.
