President, Iowa Grocery Industry Association

Professional background:
Prior to being named the association's president in 2012 she served in the role as vice president of marketing and membership for six years. The Iowa Grocery Industry Association (IGIA) is a state trade association that represents the food industry including chain and independent supermarkets, convenience stores, wholesalers, brokers, manufacturers and distributors. Founded in 1899, the IGIA has long served as a resource to its members, the food industry and the public through education, legislative support, networking and philanthropic programs.
Michelle has a Bachelor's of Science degree in marketing from Upper Iowa University and 17 years of experience in association management. In 2011, she earned a Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.
Hurd currently serves as vice president on the board of directors of the Iowa Society of Association Executives and is a current board member of the Food Industry Association Executives.

Family:
Michelle lives in Ankeny with her husband Matt and her two children, Kale, 10, and Reagan, 8.
Off-the-job interests:
Active in a wide array of community groups and boards. Travel and photography are favorite hobbies.
